It may be hard to top her standout sophomore album Fearless—which was the top-selling album of 2009 and won honors for both Album of the Year and Best Country Albums at the 52nd Annual Grammys—but Taylor Swift is willing to try. The 20-year-old country superstar recently chatted about the forthcoming follow-up to Fearless with MTV News, revealing, “[The new album] is going great actually. I’ve been writing it for the last two years, so this summer it’s all about the finishing touches and getting in there in the studio and recording the last couple of songs.”

Listening to hit songs like “Love Story,” “White Horse” and “You Belong with Me,” it is easy to see what fuels Taylor Swift’s songwriting sessions, but MTV News asked the singer just the same. Her response? “What do you think? Boys and love,” she told MTV News, adding, “When I put out an album, I’d like to think that when people listen to that album, it’s like a diary of what I’ve been through in the last two years. So it’s a really fun way to express how I feel and what I’m going through.” Taylor Swift and Valentine’s Day co-star (and Twilight hunk) Taylor Lautner split earlier this year and she is rumored to be dating Glee star Cory Monteith, so her album will likely contain autobiographical songs about them!

Before she can fully focus on her third studio album, however, Taylor Swift has to wrap up her current Fearless 2010 Tour. With the announcement, Taylor joins previous CoverGirls like Drew Barrymore, Queen Latifah, Ellen DeGeneres and Rihanna.

Although Taylor Swift has plenty to celebrate, the singer took time out during a gig at the Lincoln Center stage on May 4 to raise awareness about the Nashville flood devastation, reports The Boot. Taylor was in New York for the Met Gala and Time Magazine’s 100 Most Influential People event and said to a star-studded audience featuring former President Bill Clinton, Elton John, Matt Lauer, Martha Stewart and others, “We all live in Nashville, Tenn., and before we play our last song, I would just love it if I could give a shout-out in a room where we have the most influential people in the world. Nashville just had the worst storm that we’ve ever had in the history of the city, and the Grand Ole Opry is underwater. So, if you could please keep Nashville in your thoughts and prayers, that would be wonderful. I would really appreciate it!”
